She watched the snow fall, almost heard
the soft white crackle of a settling layer.
Looked at the sky, ash flakes,
she formed a silent prayer;
in her mind, a face, a smile, so bright,
a cold explosion, anguish in the night,
and now she holds the image of her daughter,
Who disappeared like so much frozen water.
